The Texas Gulf Coast was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey elevating to a Category 4 storm as it made landfall. As a result of the storm, it deposited a record 50 inches of rain into Houston and it’s surrounding areas. The bayous overflowed and began to flood our neighborhoods forcing many Houston residents to evacuate their homes seeking available shelter.
Despite the torrential rains, Houstonians are STRONG because we have UNITED together. We are strong and are declaring loudly, Isaiah 43:2,
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
We understand that God never said that we would not go through the flood, but He has promised us that we will not drown. So, with that divine sentiment, we find confidence and hope by reflecting on God’s faithfulness in the past to us. We believe, if we came through Hurricanes Alicia, Ike, and Allison, we will make it through Hurricane Harvey as well.
We also believe that since the storm has not consumed us, because of God’s complete mercy, and unwavering compassion and love it is now time for us as the Church to reciprocate the love that was given to us. We have been blessed to be a blessing, and now we believe it is the church’s responsibility to rise up in the midst of the flood to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the people of Houston.
In order for us to accomplish this great work, we must adhere to the word of God that says ‘two are better than one.’ This is the reason by which we are reaching out to our friends, and partner organizations to appeal to you for your support in helping people to recover their lives from the damages incurred by the storm.
